I am a Psychotherapist and a Licensed Creative Arts therapist (LCAT), Registered Drama Therapist and Board-Certified Trainer (RDT/BCT) and a pioneer in drama therapy and arts education for over thirty years. My drama therapy method has reached over 250,000 youth, teachers, and parents in hundreds of New York City schools. My training as an actor and director, my sense of humor, and my ability to call upon a team of highly skilled actors make my presentations and workshops dynamic and entertaining.
I specialize in work with vulnerable youth. I love working with them because of their courage and their willingness to experiment creatively. My workshops have reached educators nationally and internationally, as well as youth workers around the country in hospitals, performing arts organizations, clinics, and corporations.
I have received numerous awards, including a five-year research grant from the Ford Foundation and Best Creative Group Counseling Method from the American Group Psychotherapy Association. I have presented at conferences and workshops nationally and around the world, as keynote speaker and presenter. I have authored chapters in anthologies, as well as workbooks, and am presently writing a book about my experiences in schools working with traumatized youth. I hold an MA from New York University.
